Due Diligence Management Office (DMO)

For large or complex transactions, the establishment of a DMO may be necessary to manage planning and progress tracking, while maintaining control over the many aspects of the due diligence process. Having a DMO in place will provide a structured process that includes creating standard methodologies and tools. Well-planned and effective due diligence is critical to making informed decisions to drive successful outcomes for M&A activities.

The DMO is responsible for overseeing functional work streams (e.g., finance, HR, operations, audit, IT, environment, legal, tax, etc.). Each work stream leader represents their respective functional area as part of the DMO management team. The DMO is also responsible for identifying milestones, coordinating activities and identifying any potential issues or risks.
